If you actively make the choice to pay without buyer protection, then the money loss is yours if something happens to your purchase. This includes paying with PayPal Friends and Family or choosing other forms of payment like Apple Pay, Cashapp or Zelle. 

If you give in to payment without buyer protection, then you're agreeing to forfeit your right to a refund.

Although purchasing with tracking costs more, you'll be more likely to ensure that your package will be received. 

In the case of a lost package, sometimes carriers can recover the package if there is tracking involved. When the package cannot be retrieved, the carrier will reimburse the value of the lost package. 

Don't leave the seller in the dark. Just as you are going to be eager to buy things and receive your package, the seller is also going to be eager to sell the things you are interested in. 

If you change your mind before a final agreement is made, say it.

Need to pay at a later date? Specify when the money will be available and send it over on the date you promised. 

Want extra proof that your purchases were mailed (beyond a tracking number)? Ask for photos of the package with your address clearly showing and request a video of the package being mailed.
